Octagon in a Square, Progress #4

Octagon in a Square is coming along, slowly.  I have a good start on the right side.  I will probably start the Mad Miters part of the right side the next time I work on it.
This is not the fastest Bargello pattern I've ever stitched!

Octagon in a Square, Progress #3

I'm baaack.  We spent a week at our Reno house where the weather was just lovely!  And it was good to catch up with old friends.

I am nearly half way with Octagon in a Square.  Now I will work the other side of the background because I have decided that I will begin the other side of the Octagon based on the right side background.  Then the middle section of the Octagon will see those two come together.

Well, it makes sense to me!!

Octagon in a Square, Progress #2

It still doesn't look like much, but I have worked on this quite a bit.  It is not the quickest pattern!  I have just barely begun one section of the Mad Miters part.  I may change the little diamonds (in the MM part), not sure if I like the pink continued there.  I'm thinking I may use the overdye to outline them, then fill them with a metallic.  Decisions, decisions....

Octagon in a Square

Oh boy, here she goes again!  If you remember my Diamond in a Square, this is the same idea: Bargello surrounding Mad Miters.  The inside of the octagon will be Mad Miters; you can just barely make out the basting for it.  It is just about ready for the MM to begin.

Honorable Mention

I'm proud to tell you that Diamond in a Square got an Honorable Mention at the ANG Seminar Exhibit!
Here's a picture in case you forgot what it looked like!

I guess we'll have to wait for months to see what all the winners are!

Diamond in a Square, Framed

Diamond in a Square is framed.  I really like this piece!
We used a very dark green suede mat & a gold frame with a touch of cross hatching on it.
This piece, along with Twisted Metal, will be going to the exhibit at Seminar in Philly.  I hope some of you will be there & be able to see them in person.

Diamond in a Square FINISHED

Diamond in a Square, my latest Mad Miters, is finished!  Just last night I put in the last stitch.  I am really happy with this piece!  It was an experiment in combining Mad Miters with straight Bargello, using a unit pattern.
For those of you who have signed up for my Mad Miters class for Cyberpointers, you will NOT be doing this!
I would not recommend attempting something like this until you have quite a few Mad Miters under your belt!  I developed the technique and have done many, many Mad Miters pieces.  And I still had to resort to the computer to figure some of it out!

DIAMOND IN A SQUARE UPDATE Mad Miters

Diamond in a Square is coming along nicely.  I'm trying to finish up the background (the square) before starting the fun Mad Miters diamond.  Of course I have run out of one color, which I have ordered but it won't get here for about a week.
But, I can go ahead & fill in the gold and purple diamonds while I'm waiting.
AND, just in case anybody has missed it :-), registration for the Mad Miters class is still open on the CyperPointers website.
(No, the class will not do Diamond in a Square, this is very much an experiment!)
