Expanding 4-Way Bargello

Expanding 4-Way Bargello is now available on my website.
This is the first of Advanced Bargello Techniques that I will be offering over the next year or so.

Expanding 4-way includes regular 4-way, Combination 4-way and Four-Way 4-way.  One leads to the next.  36 pages of instruction teaches you to set up each technique and stitch it using the Bargello pattern of your choice.  There is a project for each technique to get you started.  This is lots of fun and challenge.

Please go to my website and check it out!  Bargello, page 2. www.lizartneedlepoint.com

P.S.  There's also a new pattern on the Free page - a little Poppy for Spring.

Four Way 4-Way, Summer, Finished

Four Way 4-Way, Summer, is finished!  Thanks to a loyal follower who sent me the remains of the Watercolour that I ran out of, in the correct dye lot!  At the end, I had about 20" of that thread left!  Whew!
The upper right and lower left quarters are identical, except the color sequence is reversed.  The other 2 quarters are identical except for the color sequence changes.  It still amazes me how much those little things can change something!
the very center of the piece is just filled with Watercolour following the pattern as it developed to that point.  I wanted the four quarters to be focal, not the center.

Help! Looking for Watercolours

I’m looking for one skein of Watercolours, #144 Pomegranate, Dyelot MA144620. I'm pretty sure this is several years old.  I need it to finish the Four Way 4-Way, Summer.
If anybody has this dyelot, I'd be happy to pay for the thread and for postage!
Please leave a comment or email me.  Thanks!

Four Way 4-Way, Summer, Section 3

Four Way 4-Way, Summer, is back in rotation!  I have reached the center of Section 3 and now I have to figure out what to do there!  So far, this section is pretty much the reverse of Section 2 and I will try to continue with that for the center.

Here is what the whole thing is looking like now.  Amazing how just changing the color sequence has such an effect!

Four Way 4-way, Summer, Section 2 finished

Section 2 of the Four Way 4-way Summer is finished.  I did change the center color arrangement some and I like it better now.

This piece, along with most of my other WIPs, will have to be set aside for awhile now.  I am working on instructions for several things and I must focus on those as there are deadlines.  I can't tell or show you anything about these yet.  I will try to post at least once a week during this time.

Four Way 4-way, Summer, Section 2

Section 2 of the Summer Four Way 4-way is almost complete.  But I'm not sure I like the way the center is turning out.  I may rip some of it out and change the color sequence. I think I want more metallic & less overdye around the center.

Four Way 4-Way, Summer

I recently started "finishing" the Four Way 4-way series.  Summer is the last of this group and I'm doing it quite different than the other three, using a Hungarian pattern and reds, salmons & pinks (not my colors!).  Here is Section 1 completed.  Using overdyes in Bargello is great fun and especially with the Hungarian patterns.  The pattern changes quite a bit.  I've found that overdyes are best in Bargello if there is more than one row.  I usually do at least 3 rows of overdye.  This particular one isn't giving me the variation I usually like, but it is kinda pretty anyway!  By the way, the canvas is kind of a pink/salmon color.

Spring, Four Way 4-way, Finished

Yea! The Four Way 4-way, Spring, is finished. The very center of the piece is worked in the overdye and the stitch is "Not a Walneto" stitch. The Walneto stitch count fit the area, but I did it without the overs & unders, so it looks nothing like a Walneto! then I decided that I didn't want anything fancy in the centers of the quarters so just filled in with the bright turquoise. One more Four Way 4-way to do.

Four Way 4-way Bargello "Spring" Progress #3

Thanks to all of you for your anniversary wishes. It was a busy day!

Back to work on the Spring Bargello. I decided to do one row all around in the bright turquoise, and then started filling in the "diamonds" between the 4 sections. I only completed one, but I think you get the idea! I think I will fill in the outer edges all in the turquoise. Then will be the fun of figuring out what to do for the centers.

Four Way 4-way Bargello, "Spring" Progress #2

Last night I finished up the overdyes and the Silk & Ivory. Now for the fun part! I will start filling in between the 4 motifs. I haven't decided yet on the color arrangement for that part. Stay tuned!

Four Way 4-way Bargello "Spring"

Back to work! I have been working on another Four Way 4-way. I'm calling this one "Spring". It doesn't show very well in the photo, but the "outline" of each section is a Fyre Werks Soft Sheen, kind of a pale lime green. I almost finished the overdye rows last night.
This month's SOTM is out, so I'll work on that tonight.

Four Way 4-way 2

The second model for my Four Way 4-way class is done. It sure is nothing like the first one! I think this class will be great because there are so many variations possible with this technique. I will be doing some additional models over the next few months. Keep your fingers crossed that I can find an on-line outlet for this class!

Four Way 4-way

Just to keep me honest, I have added another project to my queue! I am preparing a Bargello class called "Four Way 4-way". This picture is only one of several variations that can be done in this class. This model was worked in Silk & Ivory with FyreWerks as the silver accent. I am working on another model which is very different and I should be able to show it to you by the end of the week.
