All Framed Up

I picked these 2 pieces up from the frame shop today. The red Interactive Ribbons is for DHs office. I hadn't planned to frame it, but he wanted it, so here it is. It looks pretty good I think. The frame goes well with the piece and also goes well with his office furniture. The pattern for this piece is available on my website.

The other piece is Sierra, design from Needle Delights Originals. You may recall that I changed the colors. Big surprise! Anyway, I decided to frame it on end to go with another piece I have that is also a rectangle. They will eventually hang together.

Interactive Ribbons Bargello Backgrounds

Whenever I get the instructions written and make this pattern available for sale, I will include both background treatments.

Interactive Ribbons Bargello #2 Finished!

The 2nd Interactive Ribbons, the red one, is finished. This is such a pretty colorway and I like the background variation too. Now to get the instructions written up which is always an exercise in perseverence for me!

Interactive Ribbons Bargello #2, Progress Report

It has been a very busy week, but I have gotten some stitching done. Mostly on Interactive Ribbons #2. I finished the center section and started on the background. After a few rows of it I realized that the darkest red in the background was too purple-y, so I took it out and changed it. Now I like it! This will be finished soon.

The picture is kind of wierd. I stood the piece on the back step in the sun in an effort to get the Kreinik Holographic Ribbon to stand out. It is better, but I didn't have anything to put behind it, so you can see through the canvas! Other than that, it is pretty good. And the Kreinik does show up more I think. By the way, the canvas is called Victorian Red (not Vintage).

Interactive Ribbons Bargello #2

I have started the second Interactive Ribbons Bargello. This one is also in Silk & Ivory and Kreinik Holographic Ribbon, 1/16" this time. It didn't fit on the scanner so one side is a little cut off, but you get the idea. The color didn't come out too well. The lightest color is a little more peachy. The canvas is Vintage Red (I think that's what it's called) and pretty much eliminataes any show through with these threads. There will be no canvas showing when it is finished. The Holographic Ribbon is bright red. The background on this one will be a little different than the first one I did. It is going quite quickly and I hope to have it finished fairly soon. It is such fun to stitch!

Interactive Ribbons Bargello, Finished!

Interactive Ribbons is finished! I put the last stitch in yesterday afternoon. I really like this Bargello. It sure ate up the thread for the background: it used 3 skeins plus 2 strands of the dark teal Silk & Ivory.

Before Interactive Ribbons can be published though, I want to do another one with a slightly different background. I also need a better photo! But first, I will do another new Bargello pattern called Crystal Shower. I will post about that in the next day or so.

Interactive Ribbons Bargello, Progress report #3

Background is half finished! I love this piece! But I've run out of Silk & Ivory and have to wait for my order to arrive or go to my LNS. Or both! Top picture shows vertical stitches, bottom one is horizontal. I am stitching it vertical, but I think it will be framed horizontal as that seems to have the most movement. What do you think?

Interactive Ribbons Bargello, Progress report #2

The background is all the dark teal Silk & Ivory called "Mallard" with a few rows of an overdyed Watercolour. I love how this is turning out. I made an interesting discovery. When the piece is turned 90 degrees, it looks way different, with more movement. Can you see the difference? I think it is because one way the stitches are vertical and the other way they are horizontal. Cool, huh?

Interactive Ribbons Bargello, Progress report

The main design area of the Interactive Ribbons is finished. I forgot to take a photo before starting the background, so I put it into Photoshop and blocked it out. Tomorrow I'll show you what it looks like with some of the background worked! I love this piece! I am having such a blast stitching it! The new Kreinik Holographic Ribbon looks fantastic.

Interactive Ribbons Bargello

This weekend I started on a new project. It is a Bargello using Kreinik's new Holographic Ribbon for the turquoise strip down the centers of the ribbons. The ribbon is really pretty, especially when under a strong light. I am trying the 1/8" ribbon, but it is a bit heavy for 18-count. I will try the 1/16" ribbon next. The 2 greens are Silk & Ivory.
This design starts with the interlaced wavy ribbons, but will change when I get the center finished. I have run out of the ribbon, so won't be doing anymore for a few days!
