SOTM 2011, Finished

SOTM 2011 is finished and just in the nick of time too since SOTM 2012 has begun!  This is my first finish for 2012, the last stitch went in Monday night.

Since my SOTM is worked on 18-count, I didn't care for the Angel Wings border - it just seemed too delicate for the rest of the design.  Soooooo, I made some changes!

I rescaled the background by adding about two more rows of the little open diamonds (Kreinik #4 Braid, discontinued color #4005) all the way around.  Then I used Diamond Rhodes (over 12) in Waterlilies #180 for the border.

I don't think I'll be doing any finishing of this (framing or whatever) for awhile.  These colors go better in our Reno house, so it'll just get tacked to my wall here in LV for now.

Solar Flare, Framed

Wow, I'm so pleased with my framer (Fast Frame on Moana in Reno, NV)! Solar Flare is finally framed, I picked it up yesterday. We chose red and yellow mats, both in suede, and the gold frame has just little touches of red. I think it sets off this piece just beautifully. It has taken up residence in the place of honor: A wall just inside my front door.

Solar Flare, FINISHED

Yesterday I finished my Solar Flare! It turned out really well. I added in a few sparkly beads in the center area, but they don't show up in the photo. Now to figure out how I want to frame it!

Next I will be concentrating on my Boink, and the Kangaroo, and at least one new project. I am going on a stitching cruise next week, 4 days, so will need plenty to work on! Like I'm going to finish anything in 4 days!! But, I will take a new project and the Kangaroo for sure. We'll see what else! The cruise is with some of the stitching ladies from Reno and is sure to be a blast.

Solar Flare, #5 Progress Report

I've been working a lot on Solar Flare. I might even get it finished this week. Wow, that would be so awesome. But then I think I might add some beads before I get it framed.

Solar Flare, #4 Progress Report

Finally, the center of Solar Flare is finished. Working with all that ecru thread was hard on the ecru glitter canvas. It should be very pleasant to work with darker thread now!

It warmed up to nearly 50 today here in Reno! Very pleasant.

Solar Flare, #3 Progress Report

I have completed one quadrant of Solar Flare and the 4 center cells. Now I can work from the center out which should go much faster.

Wed. we are going up to Reno for 2 weeks for the holidays. I will take Solar Flare with me to work on. I have found a tote bag that is tall enough to fasten when it contains a piece on a frame! Much easier travelling!

RO PACE's Pilot Class

This past weekend I participated in a pilot class with nationally known teacher, Ro Pace. We worked on "Memories of" which is a new class that she will be teaching next year at ANG Seminar in Milwaukee. I definitely recommend this class for anyone who is going to that seminar!

The class is definitely advanced, no tent stitches in sight! There are four color ways and I chose Solar Flare. There are lots of Hilton stitches. The design is based on Tessellations so it is composed of repeating units, but depending on the color way, each unit can appear very differently.

Here's my progress so far.
