Four Way 4-way 2

The second model for my Four Way 4-way class is done. It sure is nothing like the first one! I think this class will be great because there are so many variations possible with this technique. I will be doing some additional models over the next few months. Keep your fingers crossed that I can find an on-line outlet for this class!

Glorafilia: The Venice Collection

Some months ago, I read somewhere about the book, Glorafilia: The Venice Collection by Carole Lazarus & Jennifer Berman. It supposedly had information about marbleing on canvas. Well, that wasn't true. However, this is a lovely book but it is first and foremost a travelogue. These two ladies spent time in Venice and the text and photos are beautiful. Lot's of inspiration here.

There are needlepoint designs as well, some charted, some with traceable drawings, but the instructions are not as complete as we expect nowadays. This book was published in the early 90s and I imagine they were working on it for several years. The materials available then, and in England, would not have been what they are now. The designs do not all appeal to me, but there are a couple that are pretty cool. The colors tend to be very muted and I would have liked them to be brighter. There are some nice designs and with the techniques and threads available today they could be vastly improved.

This book is available used, and at very reasonable prices, through several online vendors.

Double Up Progress Report #4

I finally completed one entire quarter of Double Up. I really like it and hope to get back to it to finish soon. My threads are all silks (some overdyed), Finca perle cottons and #4 Kreinik braid. This is one of the most "delicate" things I've ever stitched!

Four Way 4-way

Just to keep me honest, I have added another project to my queue! I am preparing a Bargello class called "Four Way 4-way". This picture is only one of several variations that can be done in this class. This model was worked in Silk & Ivory with FyreWerks as the silver accent. I am working on another model which is very different and I should be able to show it to you by the end of the week.

Just a quick hello!

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile! I have been concentrating on stitching my final project for ANG's Master Needle Artist program and I can't show you that. Plus my husband has been in town for the weekend and I have been spending time with him. So nice to have him around. This business of living apart for the summer is for the birds! Only a month to go though and we will go on a fun vacation and then Sweet Pea and I will join him in Las Vegas for the winter. Today I am showing you a new picture of Sweet Pea. She is getting so big!

Exploded Diamonds, Progress #2

I have been working on Exploded Diamonds lately. It is coming along nicely. It is half finished now. I am really liking this piece. Lot's of counting though! The shine of the Neon Rays doesn't show in the photo. In the diamonds, the brown is floss but the rusts are Neon Rays.

SOTM Section 7 Finished

Friday evening my friend delivered the thread I needed to finish this month's Stitch of the Month. I finished stitching it yesterday. I am not totally pleased with my compensation for this section, but I figure that when I stitch the one next to it that will clean it up!

SOTM Section 7

I started working on ANGs Stitch of the Month for August and almost finished the first thread, FyreWerks, and ran out of thread. I only need about a yard, but I can't get to the shop yet, so a friend will get it for me on Friday. I started the second thread, floss, but stopped till I can get the FyreWerks, but I thought I would post a progress photo. This is a very large area, and mine is even larger since I changed the design. It is a pretty stitch.

Don't get old!

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. Friday night I fell on cement and banged myself up. Fortunately I didn't break anything - very good news! But I did get lots of nasty abrasions and required 3 stitches in one knee. I don't hurt much and can get around pretty good, but it sure is hard to keep one leg straight "as much as possible". I haven't done any stitching since, but hope to get a few in this afternoon. My right wrist has an ow-y, so I'll have to see if that is going to be an issue. Better not be! I'm going to try to work on the ANG August Stitch of the Month today, so hopefully I'll be back in "normal" action in a day or two. Don't get old - it's really a drag! Especially when you are a skinny old white woman with tissue paper skin LOL!
