Transitions, Progress #4

Wow, we certainly got out of Vegas in the nick of time!  It is hot here too, but nothing like Vegas.  They are in the 120 range and here in Reno we are in the 100 range.  Isn't A/C the best thing ever?!!!
At The Bead Store, here in Reno, I found some beads to use to complete Transitions.  I haven't finished, but here is a detail of the part that is finished.  I found these wonderful little abalone shell beads that are odd shapes & the holes are not always in the middle.  I kind of piled them up in the far right section.
Then for the orange section, near the bottom I found some beads in a perfect color that are kind of oval, but the hole is through one end instead of the center.  I used a large regular bead at the center to anchor the oval ones.  I think it worked pretty well!

Halloween Cat

We're going to be in Reno for several weeks.  Although I have
packed a ton of projects to work on (all WIPs), I decided to get this Halloween kitty ready to go.  It is a painted canvas!  (Are you fainting?  Fan yourself, it will pass!)  It is quite small and I want to get it done for a young friend who is going away to college in the fall. I think it will make a cute standup.  Here are the threads I have picked so far.  I will use a dark blue Neon Rays + for the sky, but I'll have to get it in Reno as I am out of it.  Most of the little details will be in floss & I have a big stash of that up there.  This will be fun & I am looking forward to enjoying the cooler weather!

Transitions, Progress #3

Transitions is almost finished!  The Bargello stitching is finished.  I have filled in some of the "centers" but I'm not happy with most of them.  I like the copper "star" that is about in the center.  I definitely do NOT like the aqua thing, upper left and will take that out.  I'm not sure about the 2 areas where I put Jessicas (a little below center of the teal section & above center in the green section); I may add beads in the Jessicas and see how that looks, although I'm pessimistic about that.  Now I'm thinking of looking for beads instead of stitching for some of these small areas.  Especially the small one on the far right.  I almost have a feel for how I want it all to look, but the ideas haven't surfaced yet!

Transitions Progress #2

As you can see, I have made considerable progress on Transitions.  Column 1 is now complete and Column 2 nearly so.  I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of next week.

This is the most Mad of the Mad Miters I have done!  So far I have used many different colors of Watercolours and Silk & Ivory, with just a few metallics for accent.  The metallics don't show up very well in the photo.

Once everything else is complete, I will fill in the areas I have left blank.  I will probably use decorative stitches, possibly some Hilton stitches if I can find the right ones for the spaces in question.

Update:  As described in previous post, I have used Method #2 (equal quadrants) in the section to the left of the large diamond, and a little below it. The orange-y color shows it most clearly.

Transitions, Progress #1

I had an idea, what can I say?!  I know I have a gazillion WIPs, but I just had to do this.  Actually I have dropped everything else for now.

Those of you who have taken my Mad Miters class may see it here.  This is a really nuts Mad Miters!  Not only does it use a diagonal pattern, but it changes colors in each "column".  I am using dozens of colors & threads.  What you see is Column 1 complete, and Columns 2 & 3 working.  I'll start Column 4 today.

So far I have learned that a diagonal pattern used in a 4-way can be done two ways!  One is to mirror image the pattern at the miters.  Two is to make each quadrant identical.  So far I have only used #1, and as you can see, the pattern never changes direction.  I will use #2 next.

Ooooo, this is so much fun!

Mad Miters for LV, Finished

The Mad Miters for the class is finished.  It is intended to become a glasses case, but I don't know if that will ever happen.  So, imagine a vertical line down the middle.  that is where it would fold to become a glasses case.  Fun that the 2 sides would be different!

Bloomin' Bargello, Analogous

The last Bloomin' Bargello has been started.  Actually it is about half done.  I still have to fill in the background, which will square it off.  It looks kind of funny because I blanked out the bit of background I have started.
The original plan was to do the background in shades of blue, hence the blue canvas.  But now I'm thinking green might be better.  Either way would be an analogous color scheme.

This all began with the Painter's Thread that I used for the big cross.  It is a stunningly beautiful thread!  I bought some about a year ago because it was so pretty, and then it just went in the miscellaneous metallics drawer.  Well, it worked up just fine.  It is basically a rayon ribbon with some metallic.  It lays quite well & doesn't ravel out much.  I love it and want to us it again.  Gonna have to make a field trip to San Diego again so I can go to Needle Nook of La Jolla (that's where I got it).  Won't that be a hardship?! LOL The colors online aren't true, the one I have is actually much darker than it shows on screen.  So, I really need to see these threads in person!

Walk the Wild River, #3 - Apology

Well, I thought I had set up a post for June 10 and it back-posted to May 10!  So, my post of Walk the Wild River, Progress #3, is there, you just have to scroll down to May 10 to see it!  For some mysterious reason, Blogger won't let me change it.  Sorry....  My bad.
