Sierra, Progress 3

Sierra has not been neglected! I do work on it occasionally. So this is progress to date. It doesn't quite fit on the scanner, but almost. You can see most of it. When I finish the little diamonds on the end, I will be taking out the peachy colored diamonds inside the upper left corner. And they will repeat in the lower right corner. I don't like the color. I will either do those eyelets & crosses in the dark brown or the turquoise. I think the dark brown would make them stand out and the turquoise would make them "equal" to the square right in the corner. I haven't decided what is "best" yet. Any comments?

I think I'd like the dark brown myself. I think if you use the turquoise there will be too much turquoise. Just my personal taste, however. You could try mixing the colors. Can you do touches of turquoise in the centers of the eyelets (beads) and then do one turquoise stitch on top of each area in the other diamond set?

I like your process very much! Hope to see it finished soon :)

I think stick with the turquoise, as more brown will distract from the visual pattern set up by the brown already on it. Beads aren't appropriate on a design of this sort unless you had used a lot of glitzy threads on it - which I think would have ruined the "look." It's a beautiful thing. As always - your stitching is gorgeous!

I have Sierra kitted up and ready to go. But you are making me think twice about some of the color choices. Thanks for taking me "out of the box"!

Since we like similar colors, you know I'll say turquoise. The turquoise areas are done in lighter values and I would stay with that. There is a lot of brown all over the design, and adding more brown here would just fade away next to the large diamond shapes nearby. Light to medium turquoise would set that part of the design off and help balance the whole piece. Just my two cents.

I know you said brown or turquoise but what about a pink. I think the peach was starting to pull out some of the pinks but the tone wasn't quite right. Of course they might fade away entirely then which would defeat the purpose or make the colour scheme confused. Please keep in mind I'm on a laptop which I know doesn't accurately display the colors. I look forward to seeing what you decide.

I vote for turquoise, too. There's a beautiful balance in this piece!
