Vegas Nights, finished

Vegas Nights is finished. I quite like it! I think it "says" Vegas with it's sparklies & hard edges. Since it is already finished, I think I will be able to publish it with a couple of other things by the end of October.

Now, here's a question for you all: Which way is up? The top picture is the way I thought it should be, but now I'm not so sure. What do you think?

With the name Vegas nights, i'm thinking the bottom one is right side up. With gambling you start out low, get high, then plummet down, onlt to start again.

For some reason, I picture Las Vegas as looking like the top one with the neon lights bright above. I've never been there, and don't want to go, as I am a piney woods sort rather than bright lights, big city. However, I admire this work coming from there.

I think the bottom one speaks to me. Somehow the weight of the dark colors near the bottom of the second 'V' work better at the lower end.

It's a beautiful piece whichever end is 'up.'

This is dynamic Liz! Actually, I like the top one. I think it is because of all my painting classes - we found that most western culture looks at a painting from left to right - because we read from left to right. We were told not to start a directional line right in the corner. Since the top one starts above the left lower corner, it is a pleasing lead-in to me. The top one also seems more energetic to me than the lower one. But these are just my impressions! Looks great both ways.

I think I prefer the bottom one, but it's very hard to say.

What happens if you turn the design on end?

I'm with Rachel. Turn it so it is a long vertical and see what you thing.

Or better yet, put hangers on all four sides and change how it is on your wall periodically!

By the way, this is fabulous.

I really like both views although the 2nd one seems "better" (for lack of a better word!).

But reading the other posts and the suggestion of turning this vertically is quite intriguing - I think this could be a very versatile and totally personal design. Stitcher's decision!!!

What a decision to make! I like the top one myself. The deciding factor for me was the larger, light colored area. I like it better when it gets smaller as it goes up, rather than getting bigger as it goes up. Either way, it's a wonderful design and I'm glad you were able to find just the right shades of red to complete it.

Oh, I agree with the idea of just switching this one over on a periodic basis as they look like completely different pictures! Options are good.

I like the bottom one just a wee bit better because I'm more comfortable with the weighted stitches being towards the bottom of the right instead of that large, light section in the top pic. But I truly do like both views.
