Double Up Framed

I thought you would like to see my Double Up all framed & gorgeous. The frame that we originally picked out didn't work out: When the ordered molding arrived, it was a different color! The sample had a pinkish cast, but when it came in the actually molding was real yellow. So we had to pick out something else. It was a little easier because the piece was already matted. Now I'm glad the original frame didn't work out. I think this one is just perfect!

Double Up Finished!

Finally! Double Up is finished! As you can see, I connected the triangles to make the piece an octagon. Then I filled the resulting spaces with Criss Cross Hungarian to match the background of the center square. This idea came from one of the other Pilot Stitchers, thanks Michelle! I am quite pleased with the result & proud to have completed this challenging project.

Double Up Progress Report #8

Double Up is back to the top of the heap! I have been working on it again & hope to persevere & finish it quickly now. The Jessica band is finished, lot's of Jessicas! Then I quickly completed the "Angel Wings" band. Now I have to complete the little border below the Angel Wings. Then I will decide what to do. I will be filling in some areas that Ro intended to be left blank. One of the other Pilot Stitchers did that & I really liked what she did, so I'm going to do something similar.

Double Up Progress Report #7

OK, back to Double Up. I have been slowly but surely trudging away at the background of the 4 triangles. Yesterday I finished them! They look great but were sure slow to stitch. Hopefully, now I can whiz (LOL) through the remaining sections.

Double Up Progress Report #6

I've been working on Double Up, slowly but surely. I have finished all the Shrimpies (otherwise known as Crescents)and the Spratts Head & Waffle variations in the Triangles. So the Triangles are done except for the background T-Stitches. I'll work on that next. I find this piece difficult to work on at night because it is on Congress Cloth, and I don't always get a chance to stitch in the daytime! Once I get the Triangles done, it should go pretty fast.

Double Up Progress Report #5

I've started working on Double Up again, inspired by the progress of Stitchlady. She is waaaaaay ahead of me! Anyway, I have completed the center square and did several of the Jessicas in the outer triangle. I did 4 and there are 14 to go. Yikes!

Double Up Progress Report #4

I finally completed one entire quarter of Double Up. I really like it and hope to get back to it to finish soon. My threads are all silks (some overdyed), Finca perle cottons and #4 Kreinik braid. This is one of the most "delicate" things I've ever stitched!

Double Up Progress Report #3

Lately I haven't worked on much except the final project for the ANG Master Needle Artist program, which I can't show you. But this week I decided I needed a little diversion from that each day so I decided to work on something else for an hour or so every day. This week I worked on Double Up. I know some of you are going to take this class at Seminar - you will enjoy it! I was in the Pilot Class, but I am doing a very different color way from what will be taught at Seminar. But you can at least see the stitches! I almost have one quarter finished, which I need to do for Ro within the next couple of weeks, in case I find any errors in the directions. This is a gorgeous piece, with lots of fun & challenging stitches.

Double Up Progress Report #2

The pilot class for Ro Pace's Double Up stitched together this weekend. It was so fun to see everyone's progress! I had planned to show you a wonderful photograph (LOL) of my progress, but it is so nasty & overcast today(but very warm) that I decided to just lay it on the scanner. You only get a section of it that way, but it is pretty much all of what is stitched except for the outlines. It is coming along, slowly but surely. The next band will have some more aqua in it.

Double Up Progress Report #1

I have been working on Ro Pace's piece, Double Up, which we did as a Pilot Class a few weeks ago. It is a challenging piece, but it is going to be a stunner. I have completed one of the outer triangles and most of the center. It is slow going for me since I decided to do it on Congress Cloth. The photo isn't very good, I'll try to do better next time!

Double Up

Finally! I completed the pre-work for Ro Pace's pilot class for Double Up, the other class she is teaching at the ANG Seminar this fall. This piece is a real challenge as I opted for Congress Cloth in order to keep the overall size manageable. I haven't worked on anything smaller than 18-count for quite awhile and it took my poor old eyes some time to adjust!

Ro allowed me to change the colors, so mine is going to look quite a bit different than the model (which is shown above). The Congress Cloth I am using is kind of a taupe-y color, which is more accurately rendered in the scan of the detail. The photo I took of the whole piece came out pretty dark. The triangles are Kreinik braid couched with one strand of silk. The rest of the prework stitching is in pearl cotton.
