Sweet Pea in her Las Vegas Home

I don't have any stitching to show you today, although I have done some it just isn't enough progress to mention. So I'm showing you Sweet Pea in her new Las Vegas home. She is settling in really well. Today she discovered a "decorative pot" that proabably has a dead bug in it. Must investigate! Cats are such fun!

Blue Bargello for Deco Spirits

Blue Bargello is the 2nd piece I did to companion Deco Spirits. I had this huge blue pin and thought it would make an interesting center for a bargello. I used the shape of the pin to design the bargello patterns. It is NOT 4-way symmetrical. The colors complement Deco Spirits and the other bargello.

After I finished Deco Spirits, I wanted to have some things to hang with it. I had this Rainbow Galleries kit which was given to me by my friend Diana. So I stitched it up. The colors kind of go with Deco Spirits and it worked up quickly. It is stitched all in Frosty Rays, which isn't my favorite thread but it turned out pretty. I need to get a better picture of this. Sorry about that!

Deco Spirits

This piece is Deco Spirits, a cross stitch design by Nora Corbett of Mirabilia Designs. I stitched this design in needlepoint and added a border of my own design. I changed out most of the floss to Spendor silk, except for the white and the grays, and used the Kreinik as specified but heavier weight for the needlepoint canvas. The border is worked entirely in white Neon Rays. This piece won 2nd Place in the Independent Project, Professional, category at the Indian Wells ANG Seminar last year. It now lives in the guest room of our Las Vegas house, accompanied by 2 bargello pieces which I will share with you next!

Fractal Diamonds

Fractal Diamonds is a piece I designed to go on a jewelry box. I have had this Sudberry House box for at least 20 years and never got around to stitching a top for it. I needed a jewelry box in the Vegas house. The design is based on a fractal I found on the internet called "Warped Tiles" by Dennis Magar.
I used a variety of Watercolors and Kreinik, all leftovers from other projects, except the offwhite for the background and border which I had to buy more of. The diamond shapes are Diamond Rhodes Stitches and small Diamond Leviathans, with a few Scotch variations in the center (I know there is a name for this, but I can't find it!). Then I used small Waffles for the border. It was fun to stitch as I kind of made it up as I went along, just looking at Magar's fractal from time to time. It makes a nice addition to our Master Bedroom.

Amy's Garden

I'm going to be busy in the morning, so I will do this post now while I'm waiting for DH to be done working & ready to go to dinner.
Amy's Garden is a small design from Rainbow Gallery (it might be one of their freebies, I'm not sure). I used Watercolors, Kreinik, Floss and Pearl Cotton. It was a quick stitch and fit a white lacquered box. It is a very pretty addition to my guest room where it sits on the dresser. (Inside are a few little treats for guests, should they open it up!)

Pieces of Africa: Tunis

This is the last piece in this grouping. Pieces of Africa: Tunis is from Kick Back & Stitch and is one of several designs in a series. Someday maybe I'll do the others :-)
This pieces was lots of fun to stitch and went very quickly, as I recall I finished it in less than a week! I used Waterlilies, several sizes of Kreinik, Pearl Cotton and some beads. Watching the layered crescents take shape in the Kreinik was a blast!

Diamond Lil

Diamond Lil is one of four (I think) designs in Quartet by Amybear. I love the way it turned out, but it was more of a challenge than some of the others. I had a much harder time figuring out the "new" colors and threads, plus I had to pay a LOT more attention to the actual stitching! I used Watercolors, Neon Rays, FyreWerks and floss.
(The colors are the same top & bottom. The way the flash hit the piece, it looks like it is darker on the top. Sorry about that.)
I hung this piece on point again. There is one more piece in this arrangement, which I will show you on Wed., along with a pic of the whole arrangement.

Windmills

Windmills is a design from Rainbow Gallery. It took quite awhile to stitch, longer than most of the others of this size. I used Watercolors, Kreinik, Pearl cotton, Floss and Neon Rays. It is pretty and goes well with the others.

Summer Sunburst

OK, here is another small design (6" square) from Nancy's Needle. This one just used three Watercolors and two Kreiniks. It hangs on point again, to go with the others.

Jagged Edge

The 3rd piece I did from Neon Flamingo was Jagged Edge. This one really turned out pretty. It is one of my favorites. I used Watercolors, Wildflowers, Kreinik, floss & pearl cotton, plus beads. I did the center diamonds first, but it was really fun deciding on the threads for each band as I went along.

Compass Corners

Compass Corners is another design by Neon Flamingo. It is very small, 5.75" square. I decided to hang it "on point", as I did with some others. Changing the colors, I used Watercolors, Kreinik and floss. I do not like this one as much as most of the pieces I stitched for the house, but it blends in well.

Log Cabin Fever

OK, back to projects in my Las Vegas house! This one is Log Cabin Fever by Neon Flamingo Designs. I used Watercolors, Kreinik, Floss and Pearl Cotton. this is a small piece (7.5" square) and I like the way it turned out. Well, yes of course I changed the colors!

Desert Star

This next piece, Desert Star by Nancy's Needle, is another fun piece to stitch. Of course (you guessed it) I changed the threads and colors again to match my "decor". Most of the pieces I did for the Las Vegas house are not too large, so stitched up quickly. For this one I used Watercolors, Splendor silk, and Kreinik.

And here is Desert Star and Adagio hanging in the family room, along with a signed Helen Hardin poster that I have had for many years. If you are not familiar with Helen Hardin, she was a wonderful Native American artist. I am sorry to say that she died a few years ago, much too young.

Las Vegas House

When my husband accepted a job in Las Vegas a few years ago, we bought a house there. Oh boy! All these blank walls to fill up! Since we kept our Reno house, the new one needed everything, including wall decor! Whoopee! I started stitching like mad. The main color scheme of the house is aqua/brown/black so I pretty much stuck with that for the needlepoint pieces I did.

The first one I'm showing you is Adagio by Amybear. I used Watercolours, Kreinik and Pearl Cotton, changing the colors to fit my house. This is a fun piece to stitch, if you don't make any counting mistakes! The many different stitches used keeps you from getting bored!
